Description of the service
Configuration of the curriculum
The curriculum provided by A is made up of “video lecture, “live lecture” and “online test”. A directly provides two 90-minute live lectures in Japanese per week. If B cannot attend a live lecture due to B’s personal schedule, work schedule or other reason, B can watch a video of the live lecture that will be released on the following day (recorded lesson for distribution). During the semester there will be two regularly scheduled exams (a mid-term exam and a final exam), the results of which will be shown on B’s grade report. The configuration of the curriculum is subject to change without prior notice. Video lectures and online tests may be added or changed without prior notice.
Course types
There are four main course types as described below.
1. i-class (For beginning Japanese language learners and those studying for the N5 exam)
2. ro-class (For those studying for the N4 exam)
3. ha-class (For those studying for the N3 exam)
4. ni-class (For those studying for the N2 exam)
1. i-class (For beginning Japanese language learners and those studying for the N5 exam)
2. ro-class (For those studying for the N4 exam)
3. ha-class (For those studying for the N3 exam)
4. ni-class (For those studying for the N2 exam)
If B is a beginning Japanese language learner, B will need to complete the curriculum of all four courses to reach the N2 level. Since each course is one semester, it takes four semesters to complete the curriculum of all four courses.
Course assignment
Which course a student belongs in after enrollment is determined based on information such as the level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) the student has passed and the date it was taken. If a certain amount of time has elapsed since having passed one of the JLPT exams, which course a student belongs in will be determined by having the student take a level check test offered by A. Beginning Japanese language learners will start from i-class.
Duration of a semester
A semester is six months because a two-semester school year is used. It will therefore take 24 months (two years) for a beginning Japanese language learner to reach the level needed to take the JLPT N2 exam.
Repeating a level
Although B may advance to the next course level once B completes B’s current course level, in some cases a student may be held at their current course level for another semester without advancing. There are two cases in which this may happen. The first case is when A has determined that B has not learned enough at B’s current course level or has advanced but cannot keep up with B’s course work, or other such reason. Also, if B cannot keep up with B’s course work even though B has advanced, A may have B go back to the previous course level even in the middle of a semester. The second case may occur when B wants to remain at the current course level for a variety of reasons, but B’s request may not be accepted.
Full Support to pass JLPT N2 Course
A student may use all course materials, other than live lectures, when taking the Full Support to pass JLPT N2 course. However, B cannot enroll in this course immediately after enrollment. B’s ability to take this course differs depending on the course level they started at the time of B’s initial enrollment. For example, B can take the Full Support to pass JLPT N2 course if two years have passed since B started at i-class. B may take the Full Support to pass JLPT N2 course if one and a half years has passed since starting at ro-class, one year has passed since starting at ha-class, or one half year has passed since starting at ni-class. Students can take the Full Support to pass JLPT N2 course for up to three years. In this case, there will no longer be any payment of the monthly tuition fee, and students will be charged an enrollment continuation fee every semester (half year). If B transfers into the Full Support to pass JLPT N2 course, B will not be able to simultaneously utilize standard courses that have live lectures, but will be able to watch recorded lessons for distribution. A recorded lesson for distribution may not be the same live lecture that B participated in. If B transfers into the Full Support to pass JLPT N2 course, B cannot go back to a regular course that has live lectures.
Live lectures
Assigning users to live lectures
Because A uses a limited attendance model for live lectures, a live lecture may be split among multiple classes in cases where the number of users of a single live lecture has increased. In this case, a different Japanese language instructor will teach the lesson.
Assignment of users to live lectures every semester
All users, including B, may be assigned to separate live lectures when going up levels each semester or being held back.
Mid-semester assignment of users to live lectures
Even if it is mid-semester, A may decide to move B to a different live lecture for a variety of reasons.
B may be assigned to a different live lecture than another user who was participating in the same live lecture up to that point. A will not disclose the method of or reason for assigning lessons.
Handling of videos of live lectures
Videos of live lectures in which B participates are recorded. The recording will include the faces and voices of B and other users. A will publish the video on a later day so that B and other users can view it. This is done so that B and other users can view it for the purpose of review, so people who could not participate can view it as a recorded lesson for distribution at their convenience, so students who started learning in the middle of a semester can check out previous live lectures for that semester, and so users of the Full Support to pass JLPT N2 course can view recorded lessons. People who do not have the system account cannot logged into the system to view recorded lessons.
Postponement of a live lecture
If on the day a live lecture is held, a live lecture must be delayed due to sudden illness of Japanese language instructor, failure of the live distribution system, failure of the meeting system used for live distribution, or network failure, A will make an announcement of the situation to B and other users at the earliest possible opportunity. A will then set up an alternate live lecture to use and announce it at the earliest possible opportunity. The date and time of the alternate live lecture may differ from the usual day of week and time of day for that lesson. Other Japanese language instructor may also lead the lesson.
Changing the Japanese language instructor of a live lecture
The Japanese language instructor leading a live lecture is subject to change without prior notice.
Prohibition against the participation of third parties in live lectures
The participation of third parties in live lectures who do not have an account on A’s system is prohibited.
Notes on using the system
Handling of account information
A login ID and password are required to use the system provided by A. Only B has the right to use this account information. Giving one’s login ID and password to a third-party and use of the system by a third-party is prohibited. If illegal use of the system is confirmed, A will immediately take corrective action such as expelling B from the school without the possibility of a refund. In addition, regardless of whether or not money changed hands, A will immediately take action to expel B for malicious acts such as transferring or loaning an account. B may also be subject to criminal prosecution.
Confirming the system user environment
Please note the system cannot support all terminals and internet environments even if the terminal and Internet connection B uses meet the recommended environment for the system A provides. B may not be able to use some or all features. A bears absolutely no responsibility for any inability to use A’s system due to issues with B’s individual environment. B must confirm for him or herself that the system can be used normally.
Scope of use of teaching materials
Permissible use of screenshots
A strictly prohibits the use of screenshot images by B for any purpose other than B’s own individual learning. B should limit use of screenshots to personal uses such as creating a scrapbook for learning purposes or taking a screenshot to ask a Japanese language instructor a question.
Scope of use of text materials such as PDFs
B may copy downloadable text materials, such as PDFs, to a tablet PC, smartphone or other device, or print them for the purpose of individual learning. However, it is prohibited to give PDF files or printouts of such files to a third-party.
Prohibition against saving the video of an e-learning lesson, live lecture, or recorded lesson for distribution
A prohibits B from saving either the video or audio of e-learning lessons, live lectures, or broadcast of a recorded lesson for distribution by any means. Specifically, extracting data from the Internet cache to make a video file, recording the screen with screen capture software, recording the screen with a video camera, or other such acts are prohibited.
Prohibition against copying the contents of quizzes
A prohibits B from copying all or part of the content of quizzes as a text file, or taking screenshots of quizzes and saving them.
Copyright
The copyright for all teaching materials provided by A belongs to A. B cannot use teaching materials for any purpose other than learning.
If B violates either of items 1 or 2 given above, A shall demand that B cease and desist immediately and take legal action such as filing a criminal lawsuit. A may also sue for associated monetary damages.
1. B must not sell, give or loan to a third-party the data of video lectures and online tests provided by A to B as learning materials, including copies, printouts and processed works derived therefrom by any means, either in whole or in part.
2. B is prohibited from saving or capturing screenshots, audio or video of live lectures or recorded lessons for distribution. B must not sell, give or loan to a third-party the text, images, video or any other content saved on any type of media.
Publishing of profiles
Notes on publishing profiles
A may publish profiles on its learning site so that B can more easily interact with other users. The names, countries and photographs of users are taken from their application forms and published. B has the right to decide which other content from B’s application may be published. Please be aware of associated issues such as trouble that may arise from the content published. A bears absolutely no responsibility even if B suffers a loss due to the content published. A may ask B to revise B’s profile if there is a problem with any content in B’s profile. If B does not comply with this request, A may restrict B from posting on B’s profile.
Prohibition against the malicious use of other user profiles
B is prohibited from transferring to a third-party or posting to any social network any information taken from another user’s profile or information obtained through messages with another user, or transferring or posting any information where facts that may be inferred from the content or that differs from reality. If B engages in such prohibited behavior, B may be sued for defamation and/or credit damage by the other user.
Handling various types of trouble
Behavior during a live lecture
If B displays bad behavior during a live lecture, not only may it adversely affect the grade B receives, but B may be ejected from the live lesson. If there is no improvement, B may be prohibited from participating in live lectures altogether. In the case of bad conduct by B, B may be expelled from the school.
Examples of unacceptable bad behavior:
1 Interrupting a lesson by discussing topics unrelated to the lesson. 2. Failure to improve behavior during a lesson even after repeated warnings by the Japanese language instructor.
3. Engaging in harassing behavior toward the Japanese language instructor or other users, regardless of whether or not it is being done consciously.
4. Other cases where the Japanese language instructor determines an individual is not suited to receiving lessons.
If B is forcibly expelled from the school, B bears full responsibility. A bears absolutely no responsibility to give a refund.

3. Engaging in harassing behavior toward the Japanese language instructor or other users, regardless of whether or not it is being done consciously.
4. Other cases where the Japanese language instructor determines an individual is not suited to receiving lessons.
Prohibition against releasing the personal information of other users

This prohibition includes self-introductions that have been partially published, including the user's name, recorded video data, audio data, or screenshot images of that user from a live lecture, printouts of statements by that user that have been converted to text in whole or in part, as well as images, video, and audio recordings saved on any of a variety of media.
Trouble between users
In order to provide an environment in which B can learn while cooperating with other students, B should sincerely endeavor to show respect to other students so no trouble arises.
If there is trouble between users and B is the cause of the problem and A is informed about it from the injured party, or even if the reverse is true, the incident may be reviewed from the system log. A may also intervene to improve the relationship between the users in question.
In particular, if B's remarks are deemed to be insulting or slanderous such that the content could lead to defamation or credit damage, A will alert B, and if the situation still does not improve, A will take strict but fair action including possible expulsion from the school.
